CertainTeed Shingle Repair: The Miami Owner’s Guide
CertainTeed shingle repair in Miami typically runs $285 to $620 installed for a standard 4-by-8-foot section, and we stock matching CertainTeed colors and styles on our trucks so most repairs are finished in a single visit. Most Miami homeowners discover the problem after a storm blows through: granules in the gutter, a shingle tab on the lawn, or a slow brown stain spreading across the ceiling after three nights of afternoon rain. The fix is usually straightforward when you catch it early – the shingle itself is rarely the expensive part. The labor and the prep work around it are what drive the bill.
Which CertainTeed Models This Applies To
We carry repair stock for all of CertainTeed’s major asphalt shingle lines: XT 25, Landmark, Landmark Pro, Presidential Shake, Highland Slate, and the newer Landmark ClimateFlex. The key to a clean match is identifying which exact line and color you have. The strip that binds each bundle usually carries a code like “LM-Charcoal Black” or “XT-WH” – if you can read that, we can match it. No strip left? Send us a photo and we’ll pull the nearest Miami-area supplier’s stock list.
CertainTeed has shifted the spec on several models over the years. XT 25, which dominated Miami roofs in the early 2000s, has a different exposure, thickness, and color profile than the current Landmark line. That means swapping an old XT section with new Landmark shingles creates a visible step. We don’t do that. We source exact-line, exact-color matches, or we tell you upfront that we can’t and explain your options. For comparison, we also repair and match GAF and Owens Corning systems the same way.
One more thing worth knowing: CertainTeed’s Miami stock availability is strong, but the Charleston-style colorways and some of the discontinued Highland Slate grays can take two to three days to source. We’ll tell you the lead time before you commit to anything.

Signs Your CertainTeed Shingle Repair Is Failing
- Granules collecting in gutters and downspout splash blocks. Miami’s afternoon thunderstorms pound shingles with surprising force, and once the granule layer wears thin, the asphalt underneath degrades fast. If you can see the black fiberglass mat on the shingle face, you’re past “keep an eye on it” and into “call this week.”
- Curling or lifting tabs along the eave edges. Heat and humidity work together here; the seasonal expansion and contraction causes the adhesive strip under the tab to lose grip. Lifted tabs catch wind, and hurricane season rewards that with missing shingle sections.
- Leaks that appear days after rain, not during it. A slow migration through cracked sealant or a torn shingle often puddles in the attic insulation, then drips after the storm has passed. Those are the “we checked the roof and it looked fine” leaks we get called for most often.
- Missing shingle tabs after any wind event. Even a 35 mph thunderstorm gust can remove tabs that were already lifting. If you see bare spots after a storm, the underlayment is now exposed, and that’s the layer the next rain will test.
- Visible cracking or blistering across the shingle surface. Miami’s UV plus salt air and daily heat creates surface stress that shortens a shingle’s life. Once blisters pop, they collect water and the shingle starts to degrade from the inside out.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
Most standard CertainTeed shingle repair jobs in Miami fall between $285 and $620 installed. Small repairs, like replacing four or five torn tabs, sit at the low end. Larger sections, especially when underlayment or flashing needs to come out, run higher. The number we write down before any work starts includes the shingles, the labor, the disposal, and the 365-Day Done Right Promise in writing. There’s no change order later, no “well, we found more damage so here’s the new price.” If we uncover something serious, we stop, show you photos, and put the updated scope in writing before anything else happens.
Parts and labor are never split into mystery line items. Our proposal lists exactly what we’re doing, what we’re using, and what it costs. Every repair is covered for a full year. If it fails within 365 days, we return and fix it at no charge. That’s the entire promise, in writing.
DIY or Call Us?
You can safely do the inspection part yourself: check for missing tabs, granule buildup in gutters, or ceiling stains after a storm. Document what you see with your phone, and take a picture from ground level if you can. What you shouldn’t do is get on a Miami roof in July. Steep pitches, baked asphalt that gets slick when hot, and unpredictable afternoon rain make a DIY shingle patch a genuinely dangerous trade-off. A torn shingle is a $300 fix; a fall off a 35-foot eave is not a fix at all. We’ve seen homeowners make the wrong call on this. We’d rather you didn’t.
If you find damage, call us at (850) 318-3769. We’ll give you a written price before any work begins, and Dylan Pace or another member of the team will go over the exact shingle match we have for your CertainTeed line.
FAQs
In Miami, a CertainTeed architectural shingle like Landmark typically lasts 15 to 18 years in full sun with salt air exposure, which is about 20 to 25 percent less than the same product would last in a cooler inland climate. The 3-tab XT line, if it’s original to a roof built before 2005, is likely at or past its serviceable life. The Miami heat accelerates granule loss and the humidity works on the adhesive strips. A roof that’s 14 years old and showing granule loss may have one or two more seasons of patch repairs, but it’s worth budgeting for replacement before hurricane season.
Yes, but it depends on where the damage is. A torn tab or a shingle with a small puncture can often be repaired by us with a color-matched replacement tab sealed into place. If the damage extends into the shingle course below, or if the shingle is crumbling under hand pressure, a section replacement is the honest fix. Call (850) 318-3769 for an inspection; we’ll tell you which category you’re in and send a photo report.
A standard section repair takes 1 to 2 hours once we’re on site, assuming the shingles are on the truck and the weather cooperates. Miami’s afternoon storms can pause a crew for 30 minutes here and there; that’s normal and doesn’t change the written price. We’ll give you a live arrival time when you book, so you’re not waiting through a four-hour window.
We stock the most common CertainTeed Landmark colors and XT 25 replacements on our trucks, and we keep a running inventory of Florida’s most-installed shingle lines. If you have a less common colorway or a discontinued product, we can usually source it through Miami suppliers in two to three days. We’ll confirm before you book anything. Call (850) 318-3769 for a free estimate and we’ll verify your match in minutes.
