IKO Ridge Vent Installation: The Miami Owner’s Guide
We stock and install IKO-compatible ridge vent systems across Miami, with most full ridge vent installations running $850 – $1,450 depending on linear footage and roof pitch. We keep IKO’s roll-out ridge vent profiles on the truck, so on most single-story homes we can complete the swap the same day we assess it. The typical call starts the same way: a homeowner notices shingle granules collecting in their gutters near the peak, or they spot daylight through the ridge slot from inside the attic. By the time that happens, the vent has usually been failing for a season or two.
Which IKO Models This Applies To
IKO’s current ridge vent lineup centers on the Armourvent Multi and Armourvent Standard profiles, both designed to sit under IKO cap shingles like Cambridge, Dynasty, and Nordic. The Multi is the one we install most often in Miami because its internal baffle design handles the higher humidity and wind-driven rain we get from June through November. If your original vent is cracked, flattened, or peeling away from the ridge line, the fix is almost always a full ridge replacement rather than a patch job.
One compatibility gotcha we run into regularly: IKO cap shingles have a wider exposure than some competitors, which means a generic off-the-shelf ridge vent from a big box store often sits too narrow under the cap. That creates a gap where wind can lift the cap or rain can find its way in. We match the vent width to the cap shingle exposure, not the other way around. For OEM versus aftermarket, IKO’s own vent products are sized to work with their cap shingles, and the price difference on a typical Miami home is small enough that we recommend staying with IKO-compatible product rather than rolling the dice on a universal fit.

Signs Your IKO Ridge Vent Installation Is Failing
- Granules piling up in gutters near the ridge line. This usually means the cap shingles over the vent are deteriorating faster than the field shingles, often because the vent underneath has settled or cracked and is no longer supporting the cap evenly.
- Attic temperature climbing in the afternoon. A working ridge vent pulls superheated air out of the attic. When the vent baffles degrade or critters clog them, that heat gets trapped and your AC works harder than it should.
- Dark streaks or water stains on the ceiling near interior walls. This points to moisture intrusion along the ridge line, frequently caused by a vent that has separated from the roof deck and is letting wind-blown rain underneath the cap shingles.
- You can see daylight through the ridge slot from inside the attic. A properly installed ridge vent has a baffle that blocks direct light while still allowing airflow. If you’re seeing clear daylight, the vent material has failed or shifted.
- Cap shingles lifting or flapping at the peak during gusts. Miami afternoon storms will find any weak spot. A ridge vent that has lost its adhesion lets the cap shingles move, which accelerates wear across the entire ridge.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
For a typical Miami ranch or single-story home with 30 to 45 linear feet of ridge, full IKO-compatible ridge vent installation runs $850 – $1,450 installed. Two-story homes and steep-pitch roofs push toward the higher end because of staging, safety equipment, and the extra time it takes to work the peak. The price we quote includes removing the old vent, inspecting and repairing the ridge slot as needed, installing the new IKO-compatible vent, and re-securing or replacing cap shingles.
We write the number down before we start, and that’s the number on the invoice. No change orders because we found something we should have seen during the estimate. Every ridge vent installation carries our 365-Day Done Right Promise: if the vent fails within a year, we correct it at no charge, including a free second visit if needed. That’s in writing, included with every job.
DIY or Call Us?
Here’s the honest split. Anything you can do from the attic floor with a flashlight is fair game: check for daylight, look for water staining along the ridge beam, and note whether the vent material looks intact or crumbled. That inspection helps you describe the problem accurately when you call us.
What we don’t recommend is getting on a Miami roof in July to pull cap shingles yourself. Ridge work means standing at the highest point of your roof, usually on a pitch, often on shingles that are already compromised. We’ve seen too many homeowners turn a $1,000 vent replacement into a fall, a broken tile, or a botched repair that leaks worse than the original problem. If you’re anywhere close to the coast, the salt air and UV have likely made those cap shingles brittle. Call us at (850) 318-3769 and we’ll assess it safely, with a written price before anything gets touched.
FAQs
A properly installed IKO-compatible ridge vent in Miami typically lasts 15 to 20 years, though the UV exposure and salt air near the coast can shorten that toward the 12- to 15-year mark. If your vent is older than that and showing any of the symptoms above, it’s time for a replacement rather than a patch. Call (850) 318-3769 and we’ll give you an exact quote.
In most cases, no. Ridge vents fail as a system, and patching one section usually leaves the rest of the ridge with unseen damage that leaks within a season or two. A full ridge replacement is the repair that actually sticks. We’ll tell you straight if a partial fix is viable, but experience in Miami says full replacement is almost always the better money.
Most single-story Miami homes take four to six hours from setup to cleanup. Two-story homes or steep pitches may take a full day. We’ll give you a written timeline along with the written price before we start, and we’ll send before-and-after photos so you can see exactly what was done.
Yes. We carry IKO-compatible ridge vent profiles, cap shingles, and fasteners on our trucks so that most jobs are completed the same day. We also stock parts for GAF, Owens Corning, and CertainTeed systems if your roof has a mixed spec.
Every promise in writing – because a roof shouldn’t come with fine print.
