Tamko Shingle Repair: The Miami Owner’s Guide
Tamko shingle repair in Miami typically runs between $350 and $900 installed, depending on how many shingles failed and where they sit on the roof. We stock Tamko-compatible shingles on our trucks and can complete most repairs the same day we diagnose the problem. Most homeowners discover a failed Tamko shingle after a heavy afternoon storm, when a ceiling stain appears or granules start piling up in the gutter. The shingle itself may look fine from the ground, but up close you’ll see the fiberglass mat exposed, the seal strip broken, or corners lifting off the deck.
Miami’s climate doesn’t give shingles a gentle life. TAMKO shingles are built well, but between the UV load from our latitude, the salt air pushing in from the Atlantic, and the daily thermal expansion, the sealant bond between shingles is usually the first thing to go. Once that bond breaks, wind gets under the shingle edge and starts peeling it back one thunderstorm at a time.
Which Tamko Models This Applies To
We work with the full TAMKO lineup, but most Miami roofs we see carry either Heritage or Heritage Pro series shingles. Those are the architectural laminated shingles, roughly 13-1/4 inches wide by 39-3/8 inches long with a 5-5/8 inch exposure. The older Heritage line has a slightly different color lot than Heritage Pro, so matching requires checking the original shingle wrapper or, if that’s gone, pulling a shingle and matching the color code printed on the back. TAMKO also produced the 3-tab Elite series, which runs smaller and thinner than anything in the Heritage family, and the Titan XT line, which is a heavier laminated shingle some Brickell high-rise low-slope applications used before the code shifted.
The compatibility gotcha with TAMKO is the sealant pattern. Heritage shingles use a slightly different adhesive layout than Heritage Pro, which matters when you’re interleaving a repair patch into an existing field. If you install Pro shingles into a Heritage roof without adjusting the seal strip, you can end up with gaps that catch wind. We carry both OEM TAMKO stock and a limited set of quality aftermarket color-matched options for discontinued colors. The honest answer: OEM is always our first recommendation for color fidelity, but when a color is no longer in production, a good aftermarket match beats a mismatched patch every time. Crestview Roofing is an independent service provider and isn’t affiliated with TAMKO, but we install their material daily and know which colors fade closest over five years in Florida sun.

Signs Your Tamko Shingle Repair Is Failing
- Granules in the gutters or at the downspout base. Every roof sheds some granules, but a baseball-sized pile under one downspout means the shingle’s ceramic coating is losing adhesion. Once the fiberglass mat shows, UV breaks it down within a season.
- Corner lifting on the windward slope. TAMKO’s seal strip holds best when it’s fully activated by heat, but a shingle installed on a cool day or over debris never bonds fully. The corners curl within the first two years, and Miami’s storm winds do the rest.
- Dark splotches or a “bruised” shingle face. That’s the sign hail, a falling branch, or foot traffic crushed the asphalt layer. It doesn’t leak immediately, but the next major storm will find the weak spot.
- Ceiling stain under the ridge or a valley. Water entering at a failed shingle follows the roof deck before it finds a seam. The drip shows up feet away from the actual damage, which is why we map the leak from the attic side first.
- Nail pops with a broken shingle above them. When the deck swells and contracts through Miami’s wet-dry cycles, nails back out. The popped nail head then becomes a knife edge that scores the shingle above and eventually cuts through it.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
Most single-area TAMKO shingle repairs in Miami fall between $350 and $600. A repair that spans two separate slopes, requires working around a chimney or skylight, or runs through a valley pushes into the $600 to $900 range. Steeper roofs, particularly on two-story homes in Coral Gables or Shenandoah, add material handling time. Every quote you get from us is a written line-item price before any work starts. You’ll see the shingle cost, the underlayment and sealant cost, labor, and any disposal or access fees. The number on that page is the number on the invoice.
Every TAMKO repair we install is covered by our 365-Day Done Right Promise. If the repair fails within a full year, we come back at no charge and make it right. That’s not a verbal assurance; it’s printed on the estimate and the invoice. We also photograph the repair before and after, and the arrival window for your tech is live-trackable through The Relay Standard.
DIY or Call Us?
You can safely do three things before picking up a phone: take clear photos of the failed shingle from the ground with a zoom lens, note which slope and roughly how far from the ridge or eave it sits, and check your attic insulation for damp spots to help us trace the leak path. What you shouldn’t do is climb the ladder yourself. Walking a shingle roof in Miami heat means 140-degree surface temps, a brittle asphalt layer, and a long fall onto concrete or tile. A misstep on a shingle edge can tear off an 8-foot swath of intact shingles, turning a $400 repair into a $2,000 one.
We don’t charge for the diagnostic visit in most cases, and we’ll give you an exact number before we touch anything. Call (850) 318-3769 and we’ll get a tech out with the right TAMKO match on the truck.
FAQs
TAMKO’s laminated Heritage shingles typically hold up 18 to 22 years in Miami’s climate, which is shorter than the 25 to 30-year lifespan you’d see further north because the UV and salt air accelerate sealant breakdown. You’ll usually replace individual shingles two or three times over the roof’s life before a full re-roof makes sense. Call (850) 318-3769 and we can tell you whether your specific damage is worth repairing or if a wider patch is smarter.
A single shingle with a torn corner or dead seal strip is often repairable by re-sealing the edge with a compatible adhesive, but any shingle with exposed fiberglass mat or a split through the nail strip should be replaced. The repair vs. replace call depends on where the shingle sits and whether the surrounding shingles are still bonding. Call (850) 318-3769 with a photo and we’ll give you a straight answer before scheduling anything.
Most single-slope TAMKO repairs take 45 to 90 minutes once the tech is on the roof, plus about 20 minutes of setup and cleanup. A repair spanning multiple slopes or requiring off-roof flashing work can run half a day. Every job gets a confirmed arrival window and a digital invoice before we leave the property.
We stock TAMKO Heritage and Heritage Pro shingles in the most common Miami colors on our trucks, along with sealant, underlayment, and matching nails. Discontinued or rare colors take 2 to 3 business days to source from regional distributors. If you can find the original shingle wrapper in the garage or attic, send a photo and we’ll match it exactly. Every promise in writing, because a roof shouldn’t come with fine print.
